
Dragons Run Winning Streak to Eight with 61-55 Victory Over Georgia State

Atlanta, Ga. - Chaz Crawford (Philadelphia, Pa./Hargrave Military) scored 12 of his season-high 17 points in the second half as Drexel hung on to defeat Georgia State, 61-55. The senior also had 13 rebounds and six blocks as the Dragons (10-2, 2-0 CAA) won their eighth straight game.
Georgia State (4-8, 0-2) trailed by nine at the half, but opened the final period with a 10-2 run to cut the lead to 29-28 with just under 16 minutes to play. Drexel answered with a mini-run of its own and increased the lead to eight points. Drexel couldn't put the game away as Georgia State continually cut the deficit to five or six points. However, the Panthers could not get any closer than five points the rest of the way. Drexel made eight of its 10 free throws in the final 1:23 to come away with their 10th win of the year and their sixth road win of the season.
Drexel shot just 40 percent in the game and committed 18 turnovers. Frank Elegar (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymonds) scored 13 points and had seven rebounds, but played just 17 minutes due to foul trouble. Bashir Mason (Jersey City, N.J./St. Benedict's), the CAA leader in steals, had four more thefts and added 11 points.
Lance Perique led the Panthers with 17 points and eight rebounds. The Panthers shot 38 percent from the floor and shot just 24 percent from the floor in the first half. The Dragons are now 8-0 when holding their opponents to less than 60 points.
